Join The Black Creators Collective and Oshana Arts as they come together to celebrate the late, great and incomparable American playwright, August Wilson, with a three-day festival weekend!

A Staged Reading of MA RAINEY’S BLACK BOTTOM
A powerful staged reading of this August Wilson masterpiece. Set in a Chicago recording studio in 1927, the play deals with issues of race, art, religion, and the historic exploitation of Black recording artists by white producers.

Unlocking Emotional Performances through Rasaboxes
Join this popular and interactive workshop led by Black Creators Collective member, Shanae Sharon! The technique of Rasaboxes incorporates art, voice, movement and performance text. This workshop is ideal for any actor or director looking to explore new ways to arrive at greater emotional depth in perfomances.

Ending the festival is the highly anticipated August Wilson Monologue Competition for GROWN FO’KES !! Featuring an esteemed industry panel of judges, including: Kamala Thomas Casting, Sophina Brown, Andi Chapman, and Wren T. Brown. Cash prizes awarded to the top three winners.
