A Brown Tale by James T. Alfred

Written and performed by James T. Alfred, and directed by Lou Bellamy, A Brown Tale is a one person play about a young man raised by a single mother in one of Chicago’s toughest neighborhoods. Told through the lens of over a dozen characters all played by a single actor, the play takes the audience into the public housing tenements of Chicago, its public schools and inside one of the most important institutions in the Black community….the Black church and much more. Selected as one of the best shows of 2013 by the Minneapolis STAR TRIBUNE A Brown Tale was the spotlight performance of the 2015 National Black Arts Festival in Atlanta, GA.
