Towne Street Theatre’s SUM Poetry brings the power of live spoken-word performance BACK to the Hollywood Stage!
With performers Lady K and Jose Jimenez starting the show, TST is excited to bring this audience favorite show back to our programming! Lady K is Nationallly Ranked Womxn of World Poets and Jose Jimenez is a 2x Grandslam Champion of the Loudmouth Poetry Jam!
Performers will tackle today’s current topics with depth, humor, and insight in this creative artform that has been a TST audience favorite since 2018. An open mic follows the performance, so any and all can participate in spoken word expression. Published writer RJ Wayne, author of Milkcrate Monologues Volume 1, leads TST performers in SUM Poetry with co-host Melissa Booey, author of Birdbrain/the Calamitous Chronicle of Mr. Livingston and Tiger Lily, and award-winning slam poet JP Rapozo.

SUM Poetry originated as a TOWNE STREET event in 2018 and has ushered in a new era. Under the leadership of company members and published writers Ron Johnson and co-host Melissa Booey, the community, concept and immersive style have grown. With award winning slam poet JP Rapozo joining the team, it is no surprise that this year’s show has a bench of established and promising poetic performers. Open mic will follow as is tradition, for any and all who wish to participate. Admission is $10.
